Pen Shelf

From time to time I will be posting restored pens for sale as well as on our Facebook and Instagram feeds. If you see something you want, let me know with a message containing your name and address; While this is a first come first serve situation, items will remain on the list until payment has been received at which point they will be marked as sold. The condition of each pen is described and is complete as far as I can ascertain, this description will include a photo album as well as a writing sample. If further cosmetic work is desired for a pen beyond what has already been done, the work can be discussed along with any additional cost. Pens come with a 1 year warrenty backing the restoration work on the filling system.

An invoice with shipping (cost will be direct Canada Post fees) will be sent out 24-48 hours after receiving your order. All orders will be processed and shipped within 24-48 hours of receiving payment.

Esterbrook LJ (Green) - $50 - Album


Description: The LJ is the standard length slim girth variant of the Esterbrook J series.  With attractive colors and replaceable screw in nib units, the J series is an excellent introduction to vintage. 5” / 12.8 cm Capped. 1555 Gregg (Firm Fine)

Condition/Work done: Pen is in excellent condition with minimal signs of use.  Sac has been replaced and nib has received minor tuning. Please see the photo album for a complete photographic assessment of the quality of the pen.

Mabie Todd Swallow (Black) - $80 - Album


Description: A classic black lever filled fountain pen with an interesting diamond breather hole. 5” / 12.64.95” cm Capped. Fine (Minor bounce) nib.

Condition/Work done: The pen is in user grade condition with some minor scuffs from posting. Additionally there is some blow out at the lever due to shrinkage, see photos. Sac has been replaced and nib has received minor tuning. Please see the photo album for a complete photographic assessment of the quality of the pen.

Parker 45 (Grey) - $50 - Album

Description: An evolution of the Parker 51 and hooded nibs in the interest of streamlining production. The filling system is a cartridge. 5.36” / 13.62 cm Capped. Nib - Inset / Hooded Medium.

Condition/Work done: The pen is in good condition with some minor posting marker. An empty cartridge is included which can be refilled using a syringe. Please see the photo album for a complete photographic assessment of the quality of the pen.

Sheaffer Imperial IV (Black) - $90 - Album


Description: The Sheaffer inlaid nibs are possibly one of the most iconic pen designs. An instantly recognizable taste of 60’s design aesthetic. Came in both cartridge and touchdown ink systems. This particular example uses the touchdown. 5.34” / 13.57 cm. Nib - Fine Inlaid 14K 585 Hallmark

Condition/Work done: Overall good condition, shows some signs of standard use. Filling system has had a full restoration with a general nib tuning. Minor polishing has been done but signs of wear have been left. Please see the photo album for a complete photographic assessment of the quality of the pen.

Description: Standard Parker 17 with aerometric style filling system. 5.2” / 13.40 cm. Nib - Fine Steel Hooded

Sheaffer Snorkel Admiral (Black) - $100 - Album

 

Description: The Admiral model of the Snorkel line is a non-white dot model with an open 14K #5 nib with a touch of bounce, enough to provide a pleasant writing experience though with minimal line variation. 5.56” / 14.12 cm capped. Nib - Extra-Fine Open monotone 14k

Description: The Saratoga model of the Snorkel line is a non-white dot model with an open 14K two-tone nib. 5.56” / 14.12 cm capped. Nib - Fine Open two-tone 14k.

Sheaffer Snorkel Valiant (Pastel Green) - $100 - Album

Description: The Valiant model of the Snorkel line is a white dot model with a standard triumph nib. 5.56” / 14.12 cm capped. Nib - Fine Conical two-tone 14k.

Condition/Work done: Good overall condition with some signs of wear, including some posting marks. Filling system has has a complete restoration with new sac and seals. Pen has seen minor polishing. Please see the photo album for a complete photographic assessment of the quality of the pen.

Parker Duofold Juniorette (Burgundy flake) - $160 - Album

Description: A lovely petite example of a streamlined Duofold in burgundy flake. The Juniorette is a smaller pen in both length and girth with a standard Parker button filling system. The feed is of the Christmas tree design common to many Duofolds. 4.47” / 11.35 cm capped. Nib - Fine Gold.

Condition/Work done:
Is in very good condition with only some minor marks on the blind cap. Filling system has been fully restored and is ready to write. Please see the photo album for a complete photographic assessment of the quality of the pen.


Waterman Starlet (Doctor - White) - $120 - Album

Description: This is an example of a Waterman that would have been in a set intended for doctors. The pen is a taperite section with a 14K nib providing flex with noticeable line variation.The pen is full length with a lever filling system. 4.52” / 11.48 cm capped. Nib - Fine 14K some flex.

Condition/Work done: The pen is in excellent condition. The filling system has been completely restored and the pen has had minor cosmetic polishing. Please see the photo album for a complete photographic assessment of the quality of the pen.

Sheaffer Cadet “Tip Dip” set (Blue) - $130 - Album

Description: This is a matched pen and pencil set with case. The pen is a “Tip-Dip” number 3 Sheaffer providing some bounce and line variation though would not classify as a flex. Pencil has lead. 5.20” / 13.22 cm (Pen), 5” / 12.70 cm (Pencil). Nib - Fine 14K

Condition/Work done: Both pen and pencil are in excellent condition. They appear to have seen little, if any, use. Pencil is in working order and the pen has had a full servicing of the filling system including new sac and o-ring. Parker Vacumatic Major (Green) USA/Canada - $120 - Album

Description: This is a 1955 (2nd quarter) Parker Vacumatic. This late in the production run included a “punched out” blue diamond. 5” / 12.66 cm capped. Nib - Fine gold monotone.

Condition/Work done: The pen is in good condition with some brassing on the clip and cap band. Important note, the pen is Canadian but the nib is marked USA. Transparency is limited as the pen is heavily ambered. Filling system has had a full restoration and the pen has received minor polishing. Parker Vacumatic Imperial Pencil - $100 $90 - Album

Description: A Canadian made Parker Vacumatic Imperial mechanical pencil.

Condition/Work done: The pencil is in good working order with only minor micro scratches. It does include a small lead within the system and a spare stored in the barrel. Imprint is partially worn in the middle but clean and legible. Has had light polishing undertaken. Please see the photo album for a complete photographic assessment of the quality of the pencil.


Sheaffer Balance (Saratoga - Black) - $90 $81 - Album

Description: A black Canadian made (Malton Ont.) Sheaffer Balance. This is a non-white dote with a wide band (Saratoga Model) with a Sheaffer #5 nib. Likely date of manufacture is late 1930's or early 1940's.

Condition/Work done: The pen is a good user grade with some wear to the cap band and minor scratches on the barrel. Imprint is clean and crisp. The ink viewing region in the section is clear with no ambering. The sac has been replaced, the nib has been tuned, and the barrel has been polished. Please see the photo album for a complete photographic assessment of the quality of the pen.


Early 1930's Sheaffer Balance (Gold) - $65 $58 - Album

Description: A golden Canadian made (Toronto Ont.) Sheaffer Balance. This is a non-white dotwith a Sheaffer #33 nib. This is a long slim model measuring 13.7 cm (5 3/8") in length when capped. The feed is what is sometimes referred to as a the shark feed. This is a lever fill model.

Condition/Work done: The pen is a user grade with some significant wear tot he clip and cap band as well as a minor chip in the cap lip. The ink vieweing section is ambered. The imprint is clean and clear. The sac has been replaced, the nib has been tuned, and the barrel has been polished. Please see the photo album for a complete photographic assessment of the quality of the pen.


Eclipse Pen and Pencil Set (Green) - $60 $54 - Album

Description: A green Eclipse fountain pen and pencil set. The nib on the fountain pen is a rolled steel nib. Length of the pen is 13 cm (5 1/4") when capped.

Condition/Work done: The pen missing one of its cap bands and the minor swelling of the barrel around the lever. Both pen and pencil have been cleanly engraved with the name "Howard Mc Cue". There are no other markings on the barrel of either pen or pencil. The pen has had its sac replaced, polished and had the nib tuned. The pencil has 3 leads, and is missing its eraser. Salz Brothers (Black) - $30 $20 - Album

Description: A black Salz Brothers fountain pen with an iridium tipped steal nib. Filling system is a lever. Length of the pen is 13.5 cm (5.3") when capped.

Condition/Work done: The pen has distortions (likely heated in a window) to the barrel. There are minor micro scratches along the barrel and cap with some evidence of rust along the cap rivet. Please see the photo album for a complete photographic assessment of the quality of the pen.
